Badminton
Badminton is offered to Year 5 and 6 students and both competitively and socially to Year 7 -13 students.
Badminton Year 5 to 6
Teacher in Charge (TIC): For any enquiries please contact Harry Yeh-Grut.
In Terms 1 – 4 Mr Harry Yeh Grut will run Monday lunchtime sessions. Racquets and shuttles will be provided.
Term 1 & 2 Badminton
Limited to 18 Students.
Students in Term 1 & 2 must follow the following criteria
- Committed to training once a week on a Monday lunchtime.
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton and how to umpire
- Willing to attend the Primary Zone day and play against other schools
- Have played before, be experienced or is currently having coaching
- Wanting to play competitively and represent the school well
- Term 1 sessions start Monday 10th Feb to Monday 7th April in the Junior Campus Hall, starting at 1pm.
If more than 18 students apply their may be trials to determine teams and rankings for zone days. If you child does not make the zone day team we will refund the zone day fee. Depending on ability your child may be transferred to Term 3 or Term 4 competition if we have too many players registered for Term 1.
Cost for Term 1 & 2: $70
Term 3 & Term 4 Social Badminton
Social Badminton (Players from Term 1 & 2 are not allowed to sign up in Term 3 or 4)
Social Badminton is restricted to 16 players per term
Students in Term 3 sign up for one term only; these players are not allowed to register for Term 4. Term 4 is a new set of social players that have not played the rest of the year.
Register: Registrations will be open at the end of Term 2
Cost: $19 for Term 3. Racquets and shuttlecocks provided.

Venue: Badminton North Harbour, 47 Bond Cres, Forrest Hill

Badminton is offered both competitively and socially to Year 7 -13 students.

Y7-13 Social Badminton Term 2
Term 2 Year 7 – 13
- Tuesdays starting Tuesday 29th April, ending Tuesday 24th June
- Come along on a lunchtime, set up a net and play.
Equipment Provided: Racquets and shuttles will be supplied for all participants.
Limited Spots: The first 27 students to register will be accepted.
Fees: $25
Y7-8 Intermediate School Badminton League Term 3
Mondays: Boys Tuesdays: Girls
- Play at Bond Cres, Forrest Hill and Active Centre, Corinthian Albany (to be determined)
- Matches must be ready to start at 4pm sharp. Finishing time is 5.30pm at the latest.
- A Grade: Players who have played in club teams or played before
- B Grade: Players who are new to playing badminton
SUPERVISION
- All schools must have a supervising teacher or parent who remains with the team for the entire session
- Supervisors must ensure teams arrive on time and begin matches promptly
- Delays may result in incomplete matches
- Badminton North Harbour is a high-quality facility—students must treat the venue and staff with respect
- Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY & EXPECTATIONS
To register, students must:
- Be committed to attending weekly training and all scheduled games
- Note: Lack of commitment may result in removal from the competition
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton and how to umpire games
- Be keen to play competitively and represent the school well with good court etiquette
- Registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment

Y9-10 Junior Secondary League Term 3
Dates: Monday 21st July – Thursday 25th September
Please see grading suggestions below for your child’s skill experience
A Grade – for players that are experienced, play club badminton or represent a regional association
B Grade – For players who play at club level or have played competitively within a school team.
C Grade – for beginner badminton players only (if players have competed before, they should be playing B grade)
Days of play: Depends on the league entered/skill level.
Boys: Monday or Thursday; Girls Tuesday or Wednesday
