Mobile Phone Regulations
Regulations for the use of mobile phones and earbuds at school
As per government regulations, students are not permitted to use mobile phones or earbuds at school. For more information about the ‘phones away for the day’ initiative outlined by the Ministry please click HERE.
We have already operated this regulation for several years at KingsWay School. Please remind your child that they must not use or access a phone while attending school, including during lunch time and breaks. This includes students who are on a school course or visit outside the school grounds, while at the Health Centre, at the Tuck Shop (Senior Campus) or when waiting for lessons to begin for the day.
There are a limited number of exemptions to this rule. A teacher may explicitly require students to use their device for learning purposes. Other exemptions need to be applied for in writing to the Executive Principal. Possible exemptions may be granted for the following:
- a phone is needed for health reasons (for example, to monitor insulin levels); or
- a phone is needed to help a student with a disability or learning support need (for example, to assist with impaired communication); or
- the principal decides that they are needed for special circumstances (for example, the student is a teenage parent).
Should a student use their phone during the school day they will be required to surrender their device to a staff member immediately when asked. Students will be required to power off their device before giving it to a staff member, who will, in turn, hand the device to the school administrator for it to be stored securely. Your child may collect their device at the end of the school day; however, repeated offences may result in further consequences.

As reflected in 1 Corinthians 12:12, "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ," the children learned that, like the various parts of the body, each person has a unique rhythm that contributes to the harmony of the whole. ...
