As reflected in 1 Corinthians 12:12, "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ," the children learned that, like the various parts of the body, each person has a unique rhythm that contributes to the harmony of the whole. ... Philippines Mission Trip - written by Riley Harris (Year 13)
Our Philippines Mission Team had a life-changing, unforgettable experience during the recent holidays. We focused on sports and played friendship games, such as basketball and volleyball, with some local youth teams. Throughout the event, we evangelised to them, including praying for healing, their families, and their well-being.
For most of the trip, we were based at a local church in one of the poor communities. We built good relationships with the church leaders and established firm friendships with some of the youth. They modelled servant leadership amazingly and consistently served joyfully – much for us to learn! We were treated to fantastic hospitality by the local Mactan community, and even though we felt we were going there to serve them, we discovered that just being present with them was more than enough of a blessing for them. One of our highlights was the evangelistic community Crusade event on the Sunday night. It was amazing because we saw the community engage with the gospel and the church in a unique outdoor environment. Seeing how everyone got involved and responded to God’s word was awesome, even though the weather was terrible.
Overall, it was a life-changing experience for our team as we got to serve the community, experience the culture, and be a part of what God is doing in the Philippines. ... See MoreSee Less
