Term 1 & 2 Badminton
In Terms 1 – 4 Mr Harry Yeh Grut will run Monday lunchtime sessions. Racquets and shuttles will be provided.
Students in Term 1 & 2 must follow the following criteria
- Limited to 18 Students.
- Committed to training once a week on a Monday lunchtime.
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton and how to umpire
- Willing to attend the Primary Zone day and play against other schools
- Have played before, be experienced or is currently having coaching
- Wanting to play competitively and represent the school well
- Term 1 sessions start TBC Approx. Monday 9th Feb to Monday 30th March in the Junior Campus Hall, starting at the beginning of lunch
If more than 18 students apply their may be trials to determine teams and rankings for zone days. If you child does not make the zone day team we will refund the zone day fee. Depending on ability your child may be transferred to Term 3 or Term 4 competition if we have too many players registered for Term 1.

Term 3 Social Badminton
Social Badminton (Players from Term 1 & 2 are not allowed to sign up in Term 3)
Badminton is run on Monday lunchtimes for those that want to learn & play against each other in a social setting. We are limited to the first 20 students.
This is not for students who already were in the Badminton programme for Term’s 1 & 2. This is for students who are looking to give a new sport a try and have some fun.
Students must fill the following criteria to register:
- Committed to coming once a week on a Monday lunchtime.
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton
- Cost $20, which covers the full Term (Till roughly week 8)
Please understand that until your payment has been received your child will not be considered as registered and may miss out.
Racquets and shuttles will be provided.
Coaches: If you are able to volunteer your time to coach any players, please inform the teacher running this sport.

Badminton Year 7 - 13

Social Badminton Y7-13: Term 2
- Thursday lunchtime in the Senior gym.
- Come along on a lunchtime, set up a net and play.
Start Date: Thursday 23rd March, runs for term 2
Equipment Provided: Racquets and shuttles will be supplied for all participants.
Limited Spots: The first 26 students to register will be accepted.

General Information for Badminton Leagues
SUPERVISION
- All schools must have a supervising teacher or parent who remains with the team for the entire session.
- Supervisors must ensure teams arrive on time and begin matches promptly. Delays may result in incomplete matches.
- Badminton North Harbour is a high-quality facility—students must treat the venue and staff with respect.
- Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY & EXPECTATIONS
To register, students must:
- Be committed to attending weekly training and all scheduled games Note: Lack of commitment may result in removal from the competition.
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton and how to umpire games.
- Be keen to play competitively and represent the school well with good court etiquette.
- Registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment
Y11-13 Senior Secondary School Badminton League: Term 2
Dates: Tuesday 28 April – Thursday 18 June 2026
Location: Bond Cres, Forrest Hill and Active Centre, Corinthian Albany
Days of play:
Mondays: Boys A & C Grades
Tuesdays: Girls C Grade
Wednesdays: Girls A & B Grades
Thursdays: Boys B Grade
Registrations: Registrations are open and will be extended a few weeks into term 1 to allow enough time for students to register.

Y9-10 Junior Secondary League: Term 3
Dates: Monday 27 July – 17 September 2026
Days of play: Depends on the league entered/skill level.
Boys: Play Monday or Thursday
Girls: Play Tuesday or Wednesday
Please see grading suggestions below for your child’s skill experience
A Grade – for players that are experienced, play club badminton or represent a regional association
B Grade – For players who play at club level or have played competitively within a school team.
C Grade – for beginner badminton players only (if players have competed before, they should be playing B grade)
Registration open: End of term 2
Y7-8 Intermediate School Badminton League: Term 3
Dates: Monday 27 July – Thursday 17 September 2026
Location: Play at Bond Cres, Forrest Hill and Active Centre, Corinthian Albany (to be determined).
Time: Matches must be ready to start at 4pm sharp. Finishing time is 5.30pm at the latest.
Days of play:
Boys: Mondays
Girls: Tuesdays
- A Grade: Players who have played in club teams or played before
- B Grade: Players who are new to playing badminton
Registration opens: End of term 2
