Badminton Years 5-6

Social Badminton
Badminton is offered non-competitively to Year 5 & 6 students.

In Term 1 2023, Ms Lisa Lin will run Friday lunchtime sessions for those that want to come and set up a net and play socially against each other. Term 1 sessions start Friday 17^th February to Friday 31^st March in the Junior Campus Hall, starting at 1pm.

Racquets and shuttles will be provided.

Primary School Badminton Zone Day 2023

Year 5 and 6 only

Date: Wednesday 31^st May 2023
Time of Event: 9:00am-2:30pm
Venue: Active Badminton Centre, 46 Apollo Drive, Mairangi Bay
Transportation: own transportation or the school van (if travelling in School Van, students will need to arrive at school by 8am)

Cost : $25

Please note, for your child to be selected they must be enrolled into the Friday Lunchtime Badminton Club and come to practices.

If the registration number exceeds 18, a trial may be held to determine players.

Social Registrations for term1  are now closed: when we reach the limit of students. Payment and registration must be received for the registration to be called complete.

2023 North Harbour Senior Badminton Competition (Year 11-13)

Dates: 1st May – 29th June

Venues : Active Badminton Centre, 44-46 Apollo Drive, Mairangi Bay

Age Groups: Year 11, 12 & 13 Students

Grades

• Boys B Grade – Mondays (schools that usually play at North Harbour Badminton)
• Boys B Grade – Tuesdays (schools that usually play at Active)
• Girls B Grade – Wednesdays (schools that usually play at North Harbour Badminton)
• Girls B Grade – Thursdays (schools that usually play at Active)

Please be aware the students must make their own way to the venue to participate in games.

Start date:

Start: Monday 24 July – Thursday 21 September
Entries Close: Wednesday 28 June

Boys: Mondays
Girls: Tuesdays

TEAM COMPETITION
➢ Separate competition for girls and boys
➢ Mondays: Boys
➢ Tuesdays: Girls
➢ There are two sections – A & B. Section A for experienced players, and Section B for beginners.

➢ Matches must be ready to start at 4pm sharp. Finishing time is 5.30pm at the latest

➢ Matches to be played at Apollo Active Centre, Mairangi Bay or Bond Cr, Forrest Hill (to be confirmed)

➢ The competition will run for up to 8 weeks depending on the numbers of teams entered. (No game on the week of 5 September due to AIMS Games)

➢ A minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 6 players in a team.

TRAINING:

Dates and times to be confirmed. Normally Friday after school fortnightly in term 2

Badminton Fees

Competition:
In order to train on a Friday afterschool you must be registered for an event.

Senior Y11-13 Competition Term 2 – $67.50

Refunds:
Students will not be permitted to be placed in a team unless they have registered and paid or paid their deposit & started making AP payments first.
If a student doesn’t make a side due to lack of numbers to make a complete team, their fees will be reimbursed, however, fees will not be reimbursed to students who don’t make their choice of team in their chosen code or who no longer want to play and who then choose to withdraw.  Once the teams are made up, if a child pulls out it can leave a team short, cause players to be swapped about in teams and a lot of work administratively both at school and at association level.
Covid 19 refunds – If games are cancelled due to Covid 19 we will refund any money we receive back from the sporting organisations and any costs not already paid out at the KingsWay administrative end.
