Player Information
Uniform Care Requirements:
- Sports uniforms will be issued to players for the season and are to be returned (washed) and in good condition immediately after the final match. If a uniform is lost or damaged the player is responsible for paying full replacement costs for the uniform.
- The uniform MUST NOT be worn for anything other than a game. It cannot be worn for training, PE etc
- Please do not hot wash or tumble dry uniforms or place them over heaters to dry as this can cause shrinkage and discolouration, resulting in uniforms needing to be replaced.
- Please do not iron these uniforms, but rather hang them to dry as soon as the wash cycle is complete. Do not leave wet or damp uniforms folded or crumpled as colours may run.
- If the hem of a netball or hockey dress is taken up during the season, it must be taken up by hand (not machine) and taken down again before the uniform is returned. If there is any damage caused by hemming the uniform, a replacement fee will be charged.
Thank you for taking care of and showing good stewardship with these uniforms.
Sport Specific Uniform Information:
- A sports uniform is issued to players for the season and is to be returned (washed) immediately after their final match. This uniform is to be worn with appropriate non-marking footwear and regulation KingsWay sports socks.
All of our football (middle school and senior) and all hockey teams (primary, middle school and senior) are to wear the official navy blue KingsWay sports socks as part of their sport uniform at each match. - Please note that all of our Senior 1st XI boys and girls football and hockey teams will need to purchase two pairs of socks, a navy blue pair (home kit) and a white pair (away kit). These socks are available to purchase via the school website uniform shop and can then be collected from the Uniform Shop. (Not the Sports Dept)
- Short White socks for netball.
- Players are to provide their own sport specific hockey sticks, tennis rackets, suitable sports shoes (trainers / plastic moulded boots – no metal sprigs), black rugby shorts, shin pads and/or mouth guards.
For the following sports, PE uniform is to be worn for matches with appropriate non-marking footwear:
- Badminton (rackets provided)

KingsWay School Players’ Code of Conduct

- Attend all trainings and games unless discussed with your coach/manager first.

- Always show respect and courtesy to your coach, manager and supporters.
- Be respectful and polite to the opposition. Without them there would be no games.
- Always wear the correct KingsWay uniform with pride for all games and wear/bring the appropriate gear to trainings.
- Wear appropriate safety gear at trainings and games. i.e Mouthguard, shin pads.
- Never argue with the referees and umpires.
- Reflect the special character of KingsWay School.
- Always play fair and strive to achieve your personal best
Any breaches of the Players’ Code of Conduct will be dealt with by the Head of Sports and/or Sports Co-ordinator..
KingsWay School Supporters’ Code of Conduct
As a Kingsway School parent/supporter I will, to the best of my ability:
- Be positive in my support for all teams.
- Show appreciation and respect to all coaches, managers, officials and those who volunteer their time so my child can play sport and will never question, shout or abuse them.
- Be a positive role model for my child in my attitude towards sport.
- Insist that my child plays by the rules and principles of fair play.
- Always be positive and never ridicule or shout at players.
- Acknowledge good play from both teams.
- I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
At a game never question, discuss or confront coaches at the game field. If a parent needs to speak with a coach, arrange it at an agreed time and place for both parties. Often, what a spectator instructs a player to do from the side lines contradicts what the coach is instructing a player to do and this confuses the player. Your greatest asset for your child during games/practices is your encouragement, not your coaching.
Please remember a positive attitude on the side line goes a long way to ensuring all involved will enjoy the competition

We cant play the game without you.
We value our umpires and referees. Whether you are a player that wants to learn the rules (after all, the better you know the rules of a game the better you can play) or you want to become a school referee we would like to know about any courses you do.
We pay our student umpires once they are qualified and on the schools list for certain sports. If you are a qualified umpire and would like to umpire for KingsWay or can fill-in on occasions, please e-mail your TIC.
Hockey
The hockey rule book is a good tool to refer to if you keep wondering why the ref always blows the whistle when you touch that ball! Please speak to the TIC of hockey if you would like to review the rule book.
If you are umpiring hockey at any stage, please review the Umpire Briefing document.
Netball
Please remember that umpiring is not limited to the girls only, so we would like to encourage any non-netballers, siblings or parents to learn to umpire. A list of upcoming netball umpiring courses are on the NH Website: http://www.hbcnetball.co.nz
All awards are discussed and finalised by a panel of staff and TIC’s.
