Prize Giving Criteria
All awards are discussed and finalised by a panel of staff and TIC’s.
Junior Coach of the Year – Student in Year 7-10 or a student who coaches a Primary or MS team
Senior Coach of the Year – Student in Years 11-13 or a student who coaches a MS or Senior team.
This award focuses on acknowledging excellence in coaching, character and leadership in sport. Nominees should:
- Receive a written nomination from either a team/staff member, coach, manager or parent.
- Hold a coaching position at the school.
- Be a positive role model.
- Be well organised and work co-operatively with adults & team members .
- Demonstrate Christian character in competition and practice.
- Be well respected by players, parents and officials.
- Display a commitment to improving their skill level in their area of service i.e. courses, accreditation.
Junior Official of the Year – Student in Year 7-10 or who officiates a Primary or MS team
Senior Official of the Year – Student in Years 11-13 or who officiates a MS or Senior team
This award focuses on acknowledging excellence in officiating, refereeing and umpiring. Nominees should:
- Hold a current qualification and show a commitment to improving that qualification.
- External acknowledgement from competition governing body if not officiating for a school team.
- Level of officiating during the season.
- Have feedback from coaches and players officiated during the season (internal and external where possible).
- Officiate for KingsWay School in their nominated code (unless this is not offered by the school).
Sport Leadership Award
Primary School Boys’ Leadership Award – Years 1-6
Primary School Girls’ Leadership Award – Years 1-6
Middle School Boys’ Leadership Award – Years 7 & 8
Middle School Girls’ Leadership Award – Years 7 & 8
Middle Years Boys’ Leadership Award – Years 9 & 10
Middle Years Girls’ Leadership Award – Years 9 & 10
Senior School Boys’ Leadership Award – Years 11 -13
Senior School Girls’ Leadership Award – Years 11 -13
This award focuses on acknowledging excellence in character and leadership.
Nominees should:
- Receive a written nomination from either a team/staff member, coach, manager or parent.
- Show leadership ability.
- Be a positive role model.
- Be well organised and work co-operatively with adults & team members.
- Demonstrate Christian character in competition and practice.
- Demonstrate an ability to lead.
- Be an excellent ambassador of KingsWay School.
- Represent KingsWay School in their nominated code (unless this is not offered by the school).
Sportsmanship
Primary School Boys’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 1-6
Primary School Girls’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 1-6
Middle School Boys’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 7 & 8
Middle School Girls’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 7 & 8
Middle Years Boys’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 9 & 10
Middle Years Girls’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 9 & 10
Senior School Boys’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 11 -13
Senior School Girls’ Sportsmanship Award – Years 11 -13
This award focuses on acknowledging excellence in character.
Nominees should:
- Receive a written nomination from either a team/staff member, coach, manager or parent.
- Be a positive role model.
- Work co-operatively with adults & team members
- Demonstrate Christian character in competition and practice.
- Consistently demonstrate fair play.
- Be an excellent ambassador of KingsWay School .
- Represent KingsWay School in their nominated code (unless this is not offered by the school).
Middle School Sports Person of the Year
This award focuses on acknowledging a middle school student who demonstrates the characteristics we would like to see displayed in a KingsWay sports person.
- Display Christian Character.
- Demonstrate great sportsmanship.
- Be a positive role model both off and on the field.
- Work co-operatively with adults & team members.
- Have a positive work ethic at training & games.
- Be part of a school team.
- Shows level of responsibility for their development and the development of their team (where applicable).
A panel of staff will look at all nominees and may also take into consideration
- Skill and team level
- Individual achievements for the calendar year
Sports Person of the Year
This award focuses on acknowledging excellence in the characteristics that we would like a KingsWay sports person to display.
- Display Christian Character.
- Demonstrate great sportsmanship.
- Be a positive role model both off and on the field.
- Work co-operatively with adults & team members.
- Have a positive work ethic at training & games.
- Be part of a school first school team.
- Shows level of responsibility for their development and the development of their team (where applicable).
A panel of staff will look at all nominees and may also take into consideration
- Skill level
- Individual achievements for the calendar year
Team of the Year
Award Description/Criteria:
Middle Years Y7 – Y9
Senior School Girls’ Team of the Year Y10-13
Senior School Boys’ Team of the Year Y10-13
Nominees should:
- Receive a written nomination from either a team/staff member, coach, manager or parent.
- The team’s competition grade will be taken into consideration.
- The team place in the top three places in their competition or place highly in tournament week competition.
- Team players must demonstrate diligence in training and commitment during all competition.
- Team players must demonstrate great team spirit.
- Be excellent ambassadors for KingsWay School
A panel of staff will view all nominated teams and a decision will be made as to the winner. No discussion will be entered into by the panel with regards to the final decision. If no teams are considered to fit the above criteria then no award will be presented
Team of the Year
Award Description/Criteria:
Primary School Team of the Year – Years 1-6
Nominees should:
- Receive a written nomination from either a team/staff member, coach, manager or parent.
- The team’s competition grade will be taken into consideration.
- The team place in the top three places in their competition (preferably but not a must)
- Team players must demonstrate diligence in training and commitment during all competition.
- Team players must demonstrate great team spirit & sportsmanship.
- Be excellent ambassadors for KingsWay School
A panel of staff will view all nominated teams and a decision will be made as to the winner. No discussion is allowed to be entered into by the panel with regards to the final decision. If no teams are considered to fit the above criteria then no award will be presented
Endeavour Cup
Criteria for the Endeavour Cup are as follows:
- A student who has overcome significant challenges to achieve success in sport and,
- A student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their team and,
- A student who has provided outstanding support and encouragement to teammates .
This award would recognize the student’s dedication, sportsmanship, and inspirational journey, making them a worthy role model for their peers.
Victor / Victrix Ludorum
Year 5 & 6, Year 7 & 8, Year 9 & 10 & Year 11-13
This award is given on a points system, for an individual girl and boy in the above age groups, for the calendar year.
Points are based on
- Local, Regional and National representation status in either the school’s cross country and athletics day (if applicable swimming.)
- Points are also given to players representing school in their nominated code, unless not offered by the school.
- Zone days (Where offered at Year level)
