Year 7 & 8 Students only
AIMS games is an opportunity for top-performing Year 7 and 8 students to represent the KingsWay in a national competition.
Participation in AIMS is at the discretion of KingsWay School.
Participation Criteria
Team participation at AIMS is subject to the criteria.
- All people travelling to AIMS uphold the school’s special character as well as the Sport Department code of conduct for players, coaches, and supporters.
- Teams are selected through a fair and just process.
- No player in these teams is excluded from participating for financial reasons.
- All school health and safety policies and procedures relating to overnight excursions are satisfied.
- School Sport New Zealand eligibility criteria are satisfied.
Selection and Trial Information
Participation in AIMS is by selection through a trial process only.
- All students in year 7 & 8 are eligible to trial for an AIMS team.
- Trials will be administered by respective code committees and will comply with the trial and selection procedure outlined by the Sports Department. All trials are closed to parents/caregivers.
Selection for AIMS will also consider the following:
- attendance at training, meetings and preparatory games
- rate of attendance including time out of class for other sport activities
- behaviour and attitude
- progress in class.
Trials and selections processed will be communicated through school notices, the weekly newsletter, and dates posted on the website.
Entry Requirements
The Code Committees are responsible for nominating teams to be approved for participation at AIMS. The Director of Sport is responsible for approving team participation after consultation with the ELT. If School Board authorisation is required, the Director of Sport will table this at a school board meeting.
The cost of the AIMS will vary depending on the number of team members, cost of registration, travel, and staffing costs. Costs are paid for by participants.
