Badminton
Badminton is offered non-competitively to Year 5 and 6 students and both competitively and socially to Year 7 -13 students.
Badminton Year 5 to 6
Teacher in Charge (TIC): For any enquiries please contact Harry Yeh-Grut.
In Terms 1 – 4 Mr Harry Yeh Grut and Ms Lisa Lin will run Friday lunchtime sessions. Racquets and shuttles will be provided.
Term 1 & 2 Social Badminton
Limited to 18 Students.
Students in Term 1 & 2 must follow the following criteria
- Committed to training once a week on a Friday lunchtime.
- Be open to learning the rules of badminton and how to umpire
- Willing to attend the Primary Zone day and play against other schools
- Have played before, be experienced or is currently having coaching
- Wanting to play competitively and represent the school well
- Term 1 sessions start Friday 17th Feb to 31st March in the Junior Campus Hall, starting at 1pm.
If more than 18 students apply their may be trials to determine teams and rankings for zone days. If you child does not make the zone day team we will refund the zone day fee.
Cost for Term 1 & 2: $63 Term 1 & 2 plus $30 zone day fee (Zone Day fee to be refunded if do not make the team)

Term 3 & Term 4 Social Badminton
Social Badminton (Players from Term 1 & 2 are not allowed to sign up in Term 3 or 4)
Social Badminton is restricted to 16 players per term
Students in Term 3 sign up for one term only; these players are not allowed to register for Term 4. Term 4 is a new set of social players that have not played the rest of the year.
Register: Registrations will be open at the end of Term 2
Cost: $17 for Term 3. Racquets and shuttlecocks provided.
Primary School Team Challenge
PRIMARY SCHOOL TEAM CHALLENGE 2024

Two divisions: Novice & Experienced
Please note, for your child to be selected they must be enrolled into the Friday Lunchtime Badminton Club and come to practices.
If the registration number exceeds 18, a trial may be held to determine players.

Badminton is offered both competitively and socially to Year 7 -13 students.

Year 9 – Year 13 Term 3 Competition (Can use Y7 & 8 if needed to make up teams)
Due to NH Badminton facility still out of action due to flood damage. KingsWay has offered to run the NH school league at KingsWay.
When: Tuesday 30th July – Tuesday 3rd Sept. 6 weeks
Games: Between 4 – 6pm
Where: KingsWay School
Cost: $17.50 per player

· Open age / mixed
· 6 week league,
Training: Thursday 3.30pm – 5pm (from Week 2)

Social Badminton
Term 3 Year 7 – 13
Starting Monday 29th July (Week 2).
- No play Monday 2nd Sept (Staff only day)
- $8 to pay to cover racquets and shuttlecocks.
Come along on a Monday lunchtime, set up a net and play. This is limited to the first 28 students who register.

Primary Term 1 & 2 Competitive Year 5- 6: $63
Primary Term 3 Social Year 5 & 6: $17

Social Badminton Term 1 Years 7-13: $10

Year 9 & 10: TBC
Year 11 – 13: $ 87

Refunds:
Students will not be permitted to be placed in a team unless they have registered and paid or paid their deposit & started making AP payments first.
If a student doesn’t make a side due to lack of numbers to make a complete team, their fees will be reimbursed, however, fees will not be reimbursed to students who don’t make their choice of team in their chosen code or who no longer want to play and who then choose to withdraw. Once the teams are made up, if a child pulls out, it can leave a team short, cause players to be swapped about in teams and do a lot of work administratively both at school and at the association level.
Refunds – If games are cancelled due to extreme events, such as covid, we will refund any money we receive back from the sporting organisations and any costs not already paid out at the KingsWay administrative end.
Please come to training dressed in appropriate playing gear or PE uniform and training shoes.
