Coaches & Managers
If you are able to volunteer your time and would like to coach or manage a team this year, please inform the Teacher in Charge of the code in which you wish to be involved. Please feel free to chat to the sports department [email protected] if you are thinking about possibly volunteering and would like more information.
Coaching
Coaching a team is very rewarding both for students and parents, as it offers an opportunity to positively influence the students whilst getting to know your child’s friends in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
WINTER SPORTS (T2 & 3) – A parent who can offer to coach a team and run training sessions for a season (two terms) will be offered a $50 reduction off one of their child’s sports fees. This is for certain teams/sports. e.g. A games day Coach/Adult who does not do a separate training for the team does not qualify. If there is more than one coach the $50 will be halved or one coach selected by the TIC/Sports Dept on the experience/suitability/reliability and/or philosophy of the coach.
SUMMER SPORTS (1 term) – A parent who can offer to coach a team and run training sessions for a full summer season will be offered a $25 reduction off one of their child’s sports fees. This is for certain teams/sports. e.g. A games day coach who does not do a separate training for the team does not qualify e.g Summer Football. If there is more than one coach the $25 will be halved or one coach selected by the TIC/Sports Dept on the experience/suitability/reliability and/or philosophy of the coach.
If you would like any clarification about a particular sporting code or team please email the sports dept.
All Coaches and Managers involved with trainings/games are required to be Police vetted. The Ministry of Education requires the school to sight two forms of identification for your proof of identity:
- The Coach or Manager must be the presenter of the documents
- The documents must be original, current, and not expired
- At least one of the acceptable forms of identification must be photographic, preferably two.
- If applicable, where names of identity information are different on either document, we also need to sight acceptable evidence of a name change (i.e. a marriage certificate).
One form of identification must be from Category A, and one must be from Category B (refer to the table below).
Category A | Category B |
NZ Passport | NZ Driver License |
NZ Certificate of Identity | 18+ Card |
NZ Refugee Travel Document | Community Services Card |
Emergency Travel Document | Super Gold Card |
NZ Firearm License | Veteran Super Gold Card |
Overseas Passport | Inland Revenue Number |
NZ Full Birth Certificate (issued on or after 1998) | NZ utility bill (issued not more than six months earlier) |
NZ Citizenship Certificate | Electoral Roll Records |
Please fill out a Police vetting form and bring it into the senior campus reception. A member of the HR team needs to sight the original documents, either in person or you may contact them via video call.
Managing
The Manager’s role is a simple but invaluable one. Managers are mainly responsible for sending out a weekly e-mail to inform the team of times and venues of games that week and to remind the team to bring the necessary gear (e.g. drink bottles, shin guards, etc). The sports department will provide you with the necessary contact details and the TIC will let you know where to find game information (times, maps, etc).
The Manager also gathers nominations for their team for sports prize giving towards the end of the season and forwards them to the sports department. Details on how to do this are sent out closer to the time.

Police Vet Forms: All Coaches and Managers must be police vetted. Please fill out the police vet forms if you haven’t done one in the last three years and bring it with two forms of photo ID to either reception area.
