NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION FOR ALL NETBALL
Netball is only cancelled in extreme weather conditions, i.e. Thunder and lightning.
Cancellations for Year 1- Year 9 will be made by 1pm on the day of play for midweek games and posted out on the Netball North Harbour (NNH) website and on the NNH Facebook page.
Once the school receives the information we will ask managers to put it out on the Teams Reach APP. Under no circumstances can parents ring the netball centre directly to enquire about cancellations. All correspondence with the Centre should be done through the school.
Cancellations for Year 10 – Year 13 Saturday Games
Games are very rarely cancelled for Senior Netball, except due to severe weather conditions example Thunder and Lightning. Please check out the Netball North Harbour website or the NNH Facebook page
Forfeits: Teams do not forfeit unless agreed by the TIC or Sports Dept.
If your team cannot play on the designated game time, it is imperative that the team coach/manager contacts the TIC & KWS Sports Dept to organise the cancellations with the Netball centre and the affected opposition teams by no later 12:00 on game day. It is very important to do this through the formal channels to ensure the communication is circulated to the correct parties.
- There is a $50 per team NNH forfeit fee, if a team cancels and does not inform NH Netball, the opposition school & the KWS sports dept before12 midday or for Saturday games the day prior to game day.
- Rules state a 7 aside team must take the court if they have 5 players or more.
- Teams may not forfeit due to weather as netball is a winter sport.
- Players may be borrowed from a team in the grade below or equal but not from a team above. e.g a Year 5/2 team may not borrow a player from the Year 6/1 team.
- Players may not be borrowed across competitions. i.e. Primary, MS (Year 7 & 8), Year 9 and Senior Y10 – 13 are separate competitions and players may not cross.
- Bottom teams in each age group from Y7-13 may borrow from the team directly above. e.g. Year 7/3 may borrow for Year 7/2.
- Out of courtesy please request player’s through the coach and manager.
- There is a $50 discount for adult coaches off their child’s fees, please see the Coaches and Managers page for further information.
- Please note that we are unable to enter any team that does not have a volunteer coach and manager.
- Upcoming coach courses at North Harbour Netball. Please visit North Harbour Netball Website for more details.

KingsWay School Players’ Code of Conduct
All students who wish to play sport at KingsWay are required to fully commit to the teams they play for and full attendance at trainings and/games is expected.
- Attend all trainings and games unless discussed with your coach/manager first.
- Be punctual to trainings, pre-game warm up’s and games.
- Always show respect and courtesy to your coach, manager and supporters.
- Be respectful and polite to the opposition. Without them there would be no games.
- Always wear the correct KingsWay uniform with pride for all games and wear/bring the appropriate gear to trainings.
- Wear appropriate safety gear at trainings and games. i.e Mouthguard, shin pads.
- Never argue with the referees and umpires.
- Reflect the special character of KingsWay School.
- Always play fair and strive to achieve your personal best
Any breaches of the Players’ Code of Conduct will be dealt with by the Head of Sports and/or Sports Co-ordinator.
KingsWay School Supporters’ Code of Conduct
As a Kingsway School parent/supporter I will, to the best of my ability:
- Be positive in my support for all teams.
- Show appreciation and respect to all coaches, managers, officials and those who volunteer their time so my child can play sport and will never question, shout or abuse them.
- Be a positive role model for my child in my attitude towards sport.
- Insist that my child plays by the rules and principles of fair play.
- Always be positive and never ridicule or shout at players.
- Acknowledge good play from both teams.
- I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
At a game never question, discuss or confront coaches at the game field. If a parent needs to speak with a coach, arrange it at an agreed time and place for both parties. Often, what a spectator instructs a player to do from the side lines contradicts what the coach is instructing a player to do and this confuses the player. Your greatest asset for your child during games/practices is your encouragement, not your coaching.
Please remember a positive attitude on the side line goes a long way to ensuring all involved will enjoy the competition

Please note, it is a privilege, not a right to attend tournament and Senior 1 teams/players will be evaluated throughout the season. The school has the right to withdraw any team or players up to and including tournament week.

Well done to all who have attended the trials. You have made the selectors decision very hard this year. We have some fantastic players and some very competitive teams this season. I look forward to seeing what our KWS netball teams will achieve this season.
NOTE: If a student doesn’t make a side due to lack of numbers to make a complete team, their fees will be reimbursed, however, fees will not be reimbursed to students who don’t make their choice of team in their chosen code or who no longer want to play and who then choose to withdraw.
Once the teams are made up, if a child pulls out it can cause a lot of work administratively both at school and at association level and can upset a number of teams where players have to be moved about to reshuffle teams. It can even mean a team has not got enough players to compete in the competition for the season.

We value our umpires and referees. Whether you are a player that wants to learn the rules (after all, the better you know the rules of a game, the better you can play) or you want to become a qualified school referee we would like to know about any courses you do. Courses are run yearly at HBC netball courts or at Netball North Harbour courts. Click here to find information on upcoming courses.
We pay our student netball umpires once they are qualified. $10 per game for Year 5 to Year 9 umpires and $15 per game for Year 10 – Year 13 umpires. If you are a qualified umpire and would like to umpire for KingsWay or can fill-in on occasions, please e-mail your TIC.
If you are interested in umpiring for the school please contact the TIC of the Year group you would like to umpire for.
Please remember that umpiring is not limited to the girls only, so we would like to encourage any non-netballers, siblings or parents to learn to umpire. We have had five Dads umpiring netball for the school in the past. It is a good way to get involved in your child’s sport.
