Middle School Learning Programme
Our Christian faith permeates our learning through using a Biblical Worldview which is outworked through our principles, values and key competencies. Our love for God pervades the learning experience both in an integrated way and explicitly with examples including daily devotions and worship assemblies.
Middle School students engage in a learning design that highlights the importance of Literacy and Numeracy while also developing knowledge, skills and understanding in a varied and broad curriculum. We strive to deliver a Christ centred, relevant and engaging curriculum experience for our learners that caters for each of their needs. Students are actively involved in inquiries, goal setting, self-assessing and presenting their learning to others in a variety of ways.
We are grateful to have specialist teachers and facilities which enable such a wide range of learning options, giving us the ability to further integrate our curriculum experience.
We ensure that our learners have a range of opportunities in order for them to develop a range of dispositions and to learn more about the way that they have been designed. Our philosophy is that students in Year 7-9 need a focus on literacy and numeracy skills and that they should be exposed to a wide range of subjects. Links are made between subject areas in an integrated approach. Our students gain a diverse learning experience in their formative years and pathways for later in their education.
We provide Home Learning to reinforce concepts being learnt at school and to support student development of study habits.
- Home Learning is generally given on a Monday and expected to be completed by Friday of the same week
- Students are expected to complete a set amount of Home Learning each week. If your child struggles to complete Home Learning in the allotted time, let the teacher know.
- Specialist subject teachers may also issue Home Learning at times
- Please check that your child completes their Home Learning each week
- Home Learning may also be visible on Google Classroom and year level websites

Option Subjects (Semester Courses)
Year 9 students choose four option subjects. Each subject area is offered on a semester basis. Students complete two options in semester one and two in semester two. Although every effort will be made to ensure that as many as possible of the students’ preferences are met, due to a restriction on class sizes, students will not necessarily be placed into their top four option preferences.
With the exception of Spanish, not taking an option subject in Year 9 does not exclude your child from taking it in the future.
