Enrolment Process
Welcome
Thank you for your consideration of KingsWay School. KingsWay exists to partner with Christian parents in educating their children from a Christian worldview. Unfortunately, very limited places exist for in Years 1-13 in 2024 and for Years 7-13 in the future.
Our new Junior studio will open in 2025, creating additional spaces at our Primary School. Please note that from 2026, we will no longer offer an intake at Year 7. To avoid disappointment, we recommend that parents apply as soon as possible for their child to attend our Primary School.
How to Enrol
- Read all the information on this page before starting the online enrolment form.
- Download and forward the Church Attestation Form to your Pastor/Minister or Senior Leader of the church.
- Collect, verify and scan all other required documentation.
- Complete the Online Enrolment Form.
Our Enrolment Form
The Enrolment Form is a confidential form in which we ask for information that will begin the process of enrolment for your child to attend KingsWay School. Applications must be submitted complete with supporting documentation.
Processing the Enrolment Form
Once the application is received, the Enrolment Officer will process the application and will send an acknowledgement of receipt. If the application is fully completed, your child will be placed on our waitlist as either a preferential or non-preferential applicant. We ascertain this primarily based on the parents’ church attestation, as our partnership is with parents.
Standard procedure prevents us from being able to provide any details regarding our school waitlist as this is confidential information.
The School’s Consideration
Preference Enrolment
To maintain the Christian special character of KingsWay School, priority is given to students who meet the criteria of preferential enrolment. There are two sub-categories of preferential enrolment described in Schedule 6 of the Education and Training Act 2020. We regard enrolments of a ‘particular connection’ as having priority over ‘general connection’ applications, as outlined below.
Particular Connection:
The parent/s of the child identify as Christian and sign the Statement of Faith. Supporting evidence provided includes;
- Evidence of a longstanding commitment to and regular attendance at an evangelical Christian church having a Biblical basis of faith consistent with the school’s Statement of Faith
- A reference from their pastor, minister or senior member of their church who knows them well
- Testimony of their personal faith journey.
General Connection:
Parent/s identify with Christian values and lifestyle and sign the Statement of Faith. Supporting evidence provided includes;
- credible references that affirm that they live lives demonstrably aligned to and supportive of Christian values as explained in the school’s Statement of Faith
- a statement from the parent/s confirming a discipline of regular bible devotions/prayer etc for themselves and family
- can establish that their children have been raised with the beliefs and values that are aligned with the Special Character of the school
- testimony of their personal faith journey.
Priority Order: First for ‘particular connection’ applicants and then ‘general connection’ applicants.
- Children of employees of KingsWay School.
- Siblings of preferential students currently enrolled at KingsWay School.
- Siblings and children of former preferential students of KingsWay School.
- Preferential applicants currently attending KingsWay Preschool.
- Children of employees of KingsWay Trust, KingsWay Preschools, and the Proprietor.
- Children of families working for approved Christian mission organisations abroad, returning to New Zealand, and church pastors.
- Preferential applicants currently attending other schools in the New Zealand Association of Christian Schools.
- Other preferential applicants.
NON-PREFERENCE ENROLMENT
As a state-integrated school, KingsWay School is permitted to allow up to 5% of enrolments to be non-preference. These applicants are considered should there be places available after ‘particular connection’ and ‘general connection’ applicants have been placed.
Non-preference:
Parents who have no particular or general connection with Christianity but appreciate the values and beliefs of the school and wish their children to receive the education we offer.
Non-Preference Criteria:
The applicants accept that they will be attending a school of special character and that their place in the school is conditional on their child’s participation in the programme and Christian ethos of the school.
Priority Order:
- The siblings of non-preference students currently enrolled in the school.
- Siblings of former non-preference students.
- Non-preference students coming from another integrated school with the same special character.
- All other applicants.
Where there are more applicants than places available within the same priority category, they will be accepted in order of the date and time the pre-enrolments form was received. If pre-enrolment dates are the same, allocation will be via ballot.
Students who cannot be enrolled immediately may choose to be placed on a waiting list sorted in order of the priority conditions described above. Students on this list are wait listed by date and number.
Parents and caregivers of those applicants on the waiting list will be notified when and if places become available for their child. Parents and caregivers will then have seven days to confirm their enrolment. If no confirmation is received the applicant will be removed from the waiting list and the position may be offered to the next priority student.
A waiting list will be managed by the school and shall be reset annually. The KingsWay School Board delegates the authority to administer this policy to the Executive Principal.
The Enrolment Interview
The enrolment interview is an important step of the school’s consideration of your child’s application. The interview is held by Senior Management Team members (Primary, Middle, Junior Secondary & Senior) and also provides the opportunity to meet our staff and to ask any necessary questions. Parent partnership is an important aspect of our school and we expect the presence of both parents at this interview. Parents and students are expected to demonstrate a willingness and ability to support KingsWay School’s Parents Covenant and Statement of Faith.
Offer of Place
If your child receives an offer of place, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance for KingsWay School and an Enrolment pack with documentation that you will need to complete. Your child’s enrolment will be subject to KingsWay School’s Conditions of Enrolment as set out in the enrolment pack.
Acceptance of Offer
To secure a place for your child you will need to return the completed and signed Conditions of Enrolment Form and within two weeks of acceptance pay one term fee in advance. In addition, a one-off School Development Donation for each new family is requested. Once you have signed the Conditions of Enrolment form you have officially accepted your child’s offer of a place and this becomes a legally binding contract between yourself and KingsWay School.

Our recent visit to Maygrove in Orewa was a heartwarming opportunity for students to bond with the wider community. The connections formed with the senior residents, as they shared their incredible life stories, were deeply enriching for everyone involved. Our students brought joy through Christmas carols, Irish dancing, and singing, creating a memorable experience for all.
Luke 2:10 "And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.'
