School Costs
KingsWay School receives funding from two main sources
The first is an operational grant from the Ministry of Education which is to pay for the running of the school and day to day maintenance of the school’s property.
The other primary source of funding for the school is from the donations paid by parents. These donations are used to fund teaching and learning resources, additional teaching staff, teacher aides, counsellors, special education teachers, school maintenance and the professional and special character development of staff at KingsWay School.

What Are Attendance Dues?
KingsWay School is a state-integrated school. The Proprietors own the land and buildings and safeguard our special distinctiveness as a Christian school. Operational funding is received from the government by the same formula as applied to state schools and recognises that the school is responsible for its own capital development and ensuing debt. To meet the debt the Ministry of Education allows the school to charge attendance dues and gives approval for the amount of the Attendance Dues.
As we are an integrated school, the government does not fund any property development at the school. The Attendance Dues enable the Proprietors to carry out on-going and much needed property development and maintenance. Without it, we wouldn’t have a school. Therefore, the payment of the Attendance Dues is a condition of entry and a condition of continued enrolment. The money goes directly to the Proprietors via direct debit.

Attendance Dues
Attendance Dues can be paid in annual, quarterly or monthly instalments. Below are the amounts:
- Annual amount in advance x1 payment (due date 1st February) – $2,132.00
- Quarterly amount in advance x4 payments (1st or 20th of Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct) – $533.00
- Monthly x12 payments (1st or 20th of each month) – $177.67
We also request a Special Character Donation of $636.00 per annum.
The Special Character Donation can be paid Annually or Quarterly:
- Annual amount of $636.00 (paid by 1st February)
- Quarterly amount of $159.00 (paid by 1st of Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct)
This allows us to provide personnel and resources in line with our special character. Not only does it provide resources to implement the ‘Christian worldview’ (Special Character) in all we do, but it also supplements what we receive from government funding so we can add value to such things as ICT developments, subsidise programmes, provide additional staffing and resources and develop initiatives in sport, art and cultural activities.
The Special Character Donation is an ongoing donation and can be paid into this account number: 12-3084-0192348-00

Celebrating the high-standard artwork of Ella Owen - Year 11
Mary Morgan, Senior School Art Teacher, writes about Ella's artwork:
Ella Owen, in Year 11, is one of the most talented fine artists that I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in my 20 years working in London and Auckland. She is genuinely gifted; not only in being able to do photorealistic drawings and paintings, but her sense of design is also remarkable. Ella is very modest and the first student to offer to share her ideas and resources. I predict that she has a future which would mean she can earn her living taking exciting commissions not only in Aotearoa but worldwide.
Ella's words:
I entered a 1 meter by 1 meter painting that took over 3 months to paint into the David Sheperd art competition. The painting conveys a landscape of 2 giraffes in a night safari landscape and was done in oil paints. I enjoyed painting the diverse range of textures and experimenting with different techniques throughout the process.
The second piece I entered is a large charcoal drawing conveying a close-up face of a cheetah. This drawing took approximately 4 months to finish with about an hour of drawing a day. I liked the challenge of describing the detailed fur throughout the piece.
I’ve always loved drawing and painting, but as I experimented more with different media, I found that my skills really excelled around the age of 12. My favorite media is oil paints because they can achieve smooth textures and vibrant colours. When I leave school, I hope to do something associated with fine arts so that I can spend my time creating pieces.
