On Monday 8 June, the Year 9 Environmental and Service Council spent the afternoon serving a local community member, Sue Long, by planting just under 200 native trees on her property. This hands-on experience was a meaningful way to live out our Christian calling to serve others and care for God’s creation.
The day was filled with plenty of memorable moments. Alongside the planting, students fed cows, explored local tomos (natural sinkholes), and embraced the muddy conditions that only added to the fun and adventure.
Planting native trees plays an important role in restoring local ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and reminding us of our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment. It was encouraging to see students working together with enthusiasm and purpose while making a positive contribution to the community.
To finish off a rewarding afternoon, everyone enjoyed well-earned hot chips and smoothies from Ground Control Café — the perfect ending to a meaningful and memorable service experience.
