Excellent communication between parents and teachers is the key to understanding and facilitating the development of your child’s needs. Your participation in your child’s education is invaluable.
This page details the different electronic communication methods KingsWay uses to connect with parents. All important information is sent to parents via the school newsletter and the school app.
KingsWay School has a Mobile App for notices, events and other important school messages. It can also be used to easily record your child’s absence from your phone or device.
To download the app for free on iPhone or Android:
This is a weekly distribution of notices sent from the Primary School, Middle Years and Senior School to all parents.
If you would prefer to not receive these emails, there is an option for you to unsubscribe.
If you are a parent/guardian at the school and you are not receiving the newsletter, please email communications@kingsway.school.nz in order for us to add you to the mailing list.
KingsWay School has an official Facebook page.
Photographs taken at school events are regularly uploaded.
‘Like’ us and keep up to date with what is happening in our school community.
As well our main Facebook page, we also have a KingsWay Sport Facebook page where sporting highlights are posted regularly.
The goal of this group is to connect KingsWay families and provide a forum for parents to ask questions, sell second hand uniforms and share positive news. This group is to be used in conjunction with the KingsWay Facebook page. This is a positive and encouraging community.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a PRIVATE Facebook group. Parents are encouraged to request to join this group via their personal Facebook page.
To make sure we keep this group ONLY for KingsWay parents/caregivers, details must be given on your children’s attendance at the school (a question will be asked via the Facebook page after requesting to join). The adminstration staff will check your details and accept your request once these details have been given.
If you have recently asked to join the KingsWay Connect Group but you are still waiting to be accepted, please check your Facebook notifications to make sure you have answered the question asked regarding your children at KingsWay School.
This is where we upload all the latest videos taken at the school.
Passwords for the Kamar Parent Portal emailed to each family.
All information regarding each student is held in Kamar. Here you can view their school report, timetable, attendance, fees and financial payment information, donation receipts and results (as they’re entered).

This is where parents make bookings for Parent Teacher Interviews.
Login details are sent to parents a week prior to the scheduled Parent Teacher Interview session for that particular year level.
This online magazine is distributed to each KingsWay School family in Terms 1,2 and 3.
The magazine highlights significant community information, details celebrations of KingsWay School events and has important reminders of events to come.
The latest Connect Magazine will be emailed to all parents and uploaded to the Home Page of the website under ‘Latest Publication’.
There are a number of strategies which we use to promote effective communication about school or studio events, parent meetings, class matters, individual performance or any other matters that may arise. These include:
A Junior Campus newsletter is distributed weekly to inform parents of Junior Campus matters and updates.
Every week teachers email the parents of the students in their class informing them of events occurring during the week, upcoming trips, forms that need returning, home learning expectations, the memory verse that needs to be memorised, etc. Teachers value and welcome parent help. The type of support needed will vary between classes and studios. Teachers communicate these opportunities through the weekly class letter.
Urgent or private matters will be addressed by a staff member via telephone or email. Please ensure that parent contact details are kept updated.
Parents are required to email reception AND their child’s teacher:
Students are not permitted to make phone calls home. Urgent matters will be handled by Administration staff.
Parent/Teacher interviews may be requested at any point during the year. These can be arranged directly with the teacher.
Formal Parent/Teacher Conferences are held twice throughout the year: At the end of Term 1 and at the end of Term 3.
All parents receive a password to access the PTO (Parent Teacher Online) site to book appointment times.
The following reporting cycle is followed:
Parents are required to attend the Full School Parent Meeting in Term 1 and the Primary School Parent Meeting in Term 2.
The first point of contact should always be the class teacher on matters of curriculum, behaviour and pastoral care.
Please avoid surprising teachers with unscheduled meetings in the morning. An appointment that enables a teacher to be prepared will contribute to a favourable outcome for all.
Appointments can be made via email to the teacher concerned.
Parents are asked not to visit studios unannounced during the school day. If a parent needs to deliver a message to their child, please go through Primary Administration. If a parent is assisting in a primary classroom, they are asked to sign in at Primary Administration and get a visitor’s pass prior to entering.
We value parent partnership, therefore we use a number of strategies which enable effective communication about all aspects of school life pertaining to your child. These include information about learning, events, parent meetings or any other matters that may arise. These include:
Middle School Newsletters are emailed to parents at the start of every school term. This includes information on learning for the term and permission slips for trips offsite.
For past issues of the Middle School Newsletter please click on the drop-down menu following this section, or click on the links on the sidebar on this page.
The KingsWay School full-school newsletter is emailed fortnightly. This includes information for Years 1-13.
Your child’s Form teacher communicates by sending a weekly parent email with details for that week including Home Learning.
The following reporting cycle is followed:
Parents are required to attend the Full School Parent Meeting in Term 1 and the Middle School Parent Meeting in Term 4.
Your child’s Homeroom teacher is the first port of call.
Unfortunately we cannot do impromptu meetings before school as our students need us but will meet with you during non-contacts and after school by prior appointment only.
Wherever possible, use email to correspond with the Homeroom teacher. All staff at KingsWay School have the same format for their email addresses: firstname.surname@kingsway.school.nz
If the issue is more serious you would be referred to the Head of Learning for your child’s year group.
From here a Dean may be involved or a Senior Management Team member. An appointment can be organised by emailing the teacher to make a mutually agreeable time.
We endeavour to return correspondence within 24 hours but teachers are only expected to answer school emails between 8.30 am and 5pm. If we have not responded within this timeframe, please use a different means to communicate with us.
Our school strongly encourages the active involvement of all parents in school activities. This includes visits during the school day. However, common courtesy, the need to preserve classroom learning atmospheres and our commitment to ensuring the safety of all our children, requires that ALL VISITING ADULTS MUST CHECK IN WITH THE OFFICE before going to any classroom or to the playground.
Parents or any other adults (e.g. grandparents, family members) wanting to see or pick up a child during school hours MUST consult the teacher and use the sign in and sign out book at the office.
