The sense of community, excellence and commitment to servant leadership make it a privilege to serve as a proprietor rep at Kingsway. I’m looking forward to helping the board team continue to strengthen, serve and support the school to help ensure a flourishing future.
I whakapapa to several pre-treaty whānau as well as to grandparents who settled here. We have early missionary forefathers: Rev James Wallis, a Treaty of Waitangi signatory, from Whaingaroa, Raglan and Rev Henry Cort Schnackenberg in Kāwhia. Through them, strong bonds of relationship grew with Tainui.
One of my ancestors, Sarah Kemp was raised whāngai by Mary Tiki Mangatae, daughter of Uraroa, paramount chief of Whangaroa, and her pioneering husband William Spikeman. Through this bond, I stand beneath the mantle (korowai) of Ngāpuhi and Whangaroa.
At the same time, I hold closely the bonds and heritage of my beloved late grandparents from Scotland and Ireland.
I have the privilege of serving on several boards and as an advisor to a wide range of private clients through my company Wallis&Co. And also serve several not-for-profit organisations as an advisor.
I’m married to Racheal, who founded a social enterprise that builds resilience and wellbeing skills in young people and their families. We have three awesome kids who attend Kingsway.
I was raised on a farm in Whaingaroa, Raglan beneath our Maunga Karioi, spending summers doing manu’s into our much-loved river: Okete. I was raised in Surfside Church, Raglan and we attend LIFE North.
