Season Information:

We are excited for another fantastic year of hockey and encourage everyone to sign up!

Years 1-2 (Boys and Girls)

Game Format: Played on a smaller turf with smaller goals and only 4 players per team. The session includes 10-15 minutes of skill coaching followed by a game.

Game Time: Mondays after school (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, approx.) during Terms 2 and 3.

Practices: Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 TBC

Games: Monday 5th May – Monday 25 August 2025 (No game on 2nd June – due to the Kings Birthday)

Years 3-6 (Boys and Girls)

Game Time: Mondays after school (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, approx.) during Terms 2 and Term 3

Practices: Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 TBC

Games: Monday 5th May – Monday 25 August 2025 (No game on 2nd June – due to the Kings Birthday)

Note: Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the venue. Carpooling is recommended.

Year 7 & 8 Girls & Boys

Please note that the Year 7&8 Girls teams are full. For any enquiries, please email the TIC.

Team Composition: Each team consists of 7 players per side, and games are played half a standard turf.

Location: Only offered at Albany. The Intermediate competition will be played at the Albany venue. If overflow venues are required the below turfs may be used:

• • Hibiscus Coast (Metro Park)

  • Westlake Girls High School

  • Kirstin School

  • Mahurangi Hockey Turf

Dates: Tuesday 6th May 2025 – Tuesday 19th August 2025 (no play 1st July and 8thJuly – due to school holidays)

Practices: Mondays 3:30 – 5:00pm TBC

Year 9 – 13 Teams

Team Composition: Each team consists of 11 players per side, and games are played on a full turf.
Game Format: Matches consist of 2 x 25-minute halves, with a 5-minute warm-up and 5-minute halftime. Game Duration: 60 minutes per game.

Year 9-13 Boys

Playing Days: Wednesdays 30th April 2025 – 20th August 2025
No play: 2nd July and 9th July – due to school holidays

Year 9-13 Girls

Playing Days: Thursdays 1st May 2025 – 21st August 2025
No play: 3rd July and 10th July – due to school holidays

Trials 2025 – Premier Boys & Girls & MS Teams

Trials for teams will take place in Term 1. The number of teams entered will depend on the number of student registrations.

If trials are required, all registered students will be contacted with details regarding dates and times.

If you do not register your child by the date the registration closes there will be a $10 late fee applied and we cannot guarantee your child a place in a team.

1st XI Boys: $371 

Year 9 & 10 Junior Boys: $ 315  (Not including school van transport)
(if playing up in 1st XI boys there will be a further $56 to pay, plus Tournament)

1st XI Girls: $365

MS & SNR Registrations close: Friday 14th February

Kingsway School has a user pays policy for all sports. This means ALL fees must be paid prior to commencement of competition or play, unless an AP has been arranged with the sports department. Please e-mail [email protected]  if you would like to set up such a payment. 

The hockey charge includes: 

• College Sport Charge, Umpire Fee ([depends on teams)
• Kingsway charges: administration fee,  equipment, umpire fee, uniform & Teacher in Charge of Sport costs.
