Surfing small for webFollowing on from the success of last year’s surfing lessons we are pleased to be able to offer these again in 2018. The purpose of the surf lessons is to increase students’ ‘beach safety’ awareness through experiencing the enjoyment of learning how to surf. This will give children the confidence to be active and have fun in the ocean. It introduces a new sport to children that is inexpensive to start but has huge personal rewards and satisfaction. The lessons educate and encourage children to understand that surfing is for everyone regardless of size, skill and ability.

These surf lessons are optional and are only offered to the Year 4 & 5 students this year. The lessons cater for students of all abilities and will be run by the experienced staff of O’Neills Surf School at Orewa Beach on Thursday the 8th of February. We will be leaving the Junior Campus by bus at 9am and returning around 2.30pm.

A fee of $23 will cover the bus and the discounted cost of the lessons. This year lessons are restricted to 65 students only, and it will be allocated to students on a first in first served basis, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Because the trip is around water we do require a ratio of one adult to every four students. The trip can’t go ahead without this ratio so I would appreciate it if you carefully consider coming to support us. Bring your wetsuit and be prepared to have an amazing day.
